HOW WE CAME TO BE… 

The Upper Chapman Road Board building at Nanson was advertised to be demolished. After much public outcry from the residents, a meeting was called and from this meeting the Chapman Valley Historical Society was formed in 1982.  Several years later the group made the decision to develop a museum. A farm shed was donated and farm machinery from throughout the Chapman Valley District was collected.

THE MUSEUMS GROWTH…

To increase the museums appeal, the society developed a time-line of the local history using photos and historical information. The museum now houses family histories, photos of pioneers, wedding photos, newspaper clippings, farming implements, household items and district memorabilia.  The growth of the museum since 1996 has been substantial and this has been through the work of the enthusiastic volunteers and grants received from various entities. In 2015, the machinery shed was added and much of the heavy machinery was moved, providing  more coherent theme displays.
